The yucky weather yesterday kept our family indoors, but didn’t dampen our spirits. There was still plenty of fun to be had with an indoor egg hunt and Easter bonnet competition.
As you can see below, the competition was stiff.
However, in the true spirit of Easter there can only be one winner. Alas, it was me. I was so surprised that I barely had a victory speech prepared. In it, I thanked Jesus and Goodwill for making the perfect Easter bonnet possible. I should also thank my chiropractor who I’ll be seeing later today after balancing a porcelain rabbit (with legs duct taped inside a lamp shade) on my head for far too long. Even as I write this, I should be wearing a C-collar.
Don’t forget that Emily Dean Photography is coming to Nashville this week. It’s time for the Wescott’s to update their family portrait. I can’t wait to see my family through her lens! Click HERE for details.
Of course you won. It’s the best smoking porcelain rabbit hat ever conceived and executed.
Haha! Thanks, Nicole!! After risking my dust mite allergy in Goodwill, I think I earned it, too.
That is pretty fiercely awesome. I knew something was lacking in our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt…next year I plan to throw down this gauntlet. Oh yes, AND I will be sharing your fine blog pictures.
Oh yes, Heather. It’s a fine addition to Easter, but I’m afraid we’ve opened a huge can of worms and next year they’ll make us decorate our cars, followed by building floats. It’s a slippery slope. Bonnets are a gateway drug!!
And, thank you!!!
I didn’t realize the bunny was porcelain, for some reason that makes it even better. And the woman in the tent-shaped pink hat could have totally made it through an egg hunt in the rain without even needing an umbrella.
Yes, she could have!! That was probably her plan to win all of the outdoor games that were cancelled. That’s as low-down as me taking Adderall for performance enhancement.
Oh Thank God you posted this! I’ve been on pins and needles all weekend wondering if you would win! Your competition was fierce – was that an umbrella?
So glad that you pulled out the victory!
Thank you!! The umbrella hat was my MIL. My FIL’s hat had turkey tail feathers from a turkey he actually killed. No rabbits were harmed in the making of my bonnet.
I’ve never wanted to trade families more in my life, yours looks like so much fun! All Easter celebrations need more smoking bunnies.
Ha! Anna, I just might consider a temporary family swap. Let’s just say, I willing to negotiate if the terms are right.
I cannot believe how stiff the competition was!! Was that one an umbrella at one point? I’m with Anna. Let’s trade families next year and you can play UNO with the kids while the menfolk doze on the couch and I’ll make an Easter bonnet that will make you weep.
